In Today’s time Electrical Equipment play important part in everyday life. Thus it needs to be safe. Product safety is must. In European Union Low Voltage directive play an important role for the electrical equipment. The purpose of the Low Voltage Directive is to ensure safe electrical equipment within a specific voltage range for European citizens. It is a standard harmonized legislation to safeguard consumers from distress or injury.

The Low Voltage Directive (LVD) (2014/35/EU) ensures that electrical equipment within certain voltage limits provides a high level of protection for European citizens, and benefits fully from the Single Market. It has been applicable since 20 April 2016.

The Directive applies to all electrical equipment designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current. Voltage ratings refer to the voltage of the electrical input or output, not to voltages that may appear inside the equipment.

The LVD (2014/35/EU) has the same scope as the previous Low Voltage Directive (2006/95/EC). It provides the harmonised standards and procedures that all.

Jan 31, 2019 - Originally published in 1973, the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) has a long history. The provisional guidance on Directive 2014/35/EU is worth. Conformance is asserted by the manufacturer based on its conformity assessment. The new version of Low Voltage Directive version of 2014/35/EU, dated 26 February 2014 and is applicable from 20 April 2016.

Product Example within our capability under the scope of LVD:

  • Household Appliance Products
  • Electrical Products
  • Relays
  • Power Transformer
  • Adapters
  • Electronics products
  • Power supply units
  • Switch-gear/Control-gear
  • Cables
  • Control Units
  • PV Module
  • Electrical Components etc.

There are four key aspects which are required and these must be in place before CE marking to this Directive can take place:

  • A Risk Assessment of the hazards associated with the product and environment
  • Product Safety Test/Assessments to harmonized standard(s) to benefit from a presumption of conformity to the essential requirements (safety objectives) of the LVD
  • Compilation of a Technical File
  • Completion of a Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
